Welcome to Millennial Girls

We seek to unite, empower, and inspire women across the globe by fostering a community in which we can all share our unique experiences in the modern world.  In doing so, our goal is to motivate women to feel more comfortable being themselves and to encourage them to aspire to be the best women they can possibly be.

Meet Brae

I’m Brae, proud millennial girl, and co-founder of this community! This platform was created with all of you young millennial women in mind!

One of my favorite pastimes in college was sitting around with a few close friends and talking for hours on end. We talked about everything from our future goals, to our biggest insecurities. We used that space to share our experiences as young black women trying to navigate our way through womanhood. What I loved so much about these talks, is that it gave us the opportunity to be ourselves. I found myself budding into the mature young women I had always hope to become. As my college career was coming to a close, I began to reflect not only on the journey that awaited me, but also my past experiences that had lead me to that very point. It was then that I realized how crucial those ‘talks’ truly were. They empowered me!

My passion in life is to use this platform to help other young millennial women navigate their way through womanhood! I want all young women to know that this journey does not have to be faced alone. Within this community we offer various tools to help every young women reach their truest potential. Whether you are looking for tips on how to build self-confidence, achieve your ultimate goals, or become financially independent, we are here to help! The power of an empowered women is truly a force to be reckoned with!

Meet Shay

I'm Shay Harkness, co-founder of this Millennial Girl Community! I’m a Millennial Girl myself, having graduated from University of Maryland, College Park in May 2016. After graduating, I found the real world to be quite an enigma since I had not really learned how to navigate all of the very real “adulting” responsibilities when you’re fresh out of school. It was an eye-opener to me that many other young women in my social circle felt the same way.

Even more so than that, I found that outside of longtime friends, there was not really a community of women that I could connect with to talk about real issues that impact Millennial women. Being in the workplace and not seeing many women that looked like me also put a lot of things into perspective for me. We still have a long way to go in the plight of equality and prosperity for all women. I want to see all women lead the lives they want! I’ve always had a passion for womanhood and that’s why I’ve put my heart into building a community in which women can feel comfortable talking about real issues. In addition, I want to help other women gain the valuable resources they need to level up in life!  If you want to become unapologetically confident in yourself and what you have to offer the world, have real girl talk, learn about career building skills, learn about internship opportunities, or learn about entrepreneurial ideas and tips, then this is the place to be!
